Free radicals often tend to develop in the body because of absorption of toxins into the bloodstream. Most of these toxins originate from fecal matter accumulated inside the colon. To remove this matter, a proper colon cleanse program is vital. With such a program, many ailments can be prevented and the average lifespan of an individual can be extended as well.

Problems Originating from Free Radicals

Free radicals in the body give rise to a variety of ailments and symptoms. High Fiber Foods

Prunes, apples, oranges and other citrus foods are all great for fiber sources as are spinach, lettuce and other leafy greens. Water and inclusion of juices are also excellent to perform juice fasting, which is a safe, natural and effective way to cleanse the colon. Non-fibrous foods should certainly be avoided at all costs. Hence, cutting down on red meat, restaurant dishes, bacon, pepperoni, hot dogs, sausages, pork, hamburgers, sardines, canned meat, meat extenders, bologna, fast food and noodles is a good idea.

Exercise

Many people disregard or tend to overlook the importance of exercise in a colon cleanse program. However, the fact is that regular moderate levels of aerobic exercise can stimulate the bowel movement and ensure timely and prompt expulsion of toxins from the body.

Water

Water is one of the most important elements when performing colon cleansing. Water helps to flush out all the toxins and fecal matter residing in the deep recesses of the colon. A minimum of six to eight glasses is mandatory, although when performing colon cleanse, the intake must be much higher. Diuretics such as coffee, tea etc. must be avoided and sugary drinks should be avoided as well. Plain warm water with a bit of lemon juice is excellent to get the bowels started first thing in the morning.

Digestive Enzymes

It is possible to aid the body in absorbing nutrients from the food by consuming more digestive enzymes. With age, these enzymes reduce within the body. Several enzymes such as those found in fresh ginger root are excellent to stimulate and strengthen digestion.

When opting for any colon cleanse program, it is important to take things slow at first since the body may not be used to aggressive cleaning initially. It is always better to have herbal supplements for this purpose instead of chemicals or laxatives as these are safer, more effective and result in a healthier state in the body.
