Dr Oz Colon Cleanse

While Dr Oz does not embrace colon cleansing in the manner in which we have come to accept it, he does recommend that we drastically increase our daily intake of fiber as well as adding superfoods that are high in antioxidants. This encourages a healthy colon by keeping it cleansed of waste and toxins that are determined to infiltrate the body through the intestines. Dr Oz further does not endorse colonic irrigation unless it is a necessary prerequisite for a medical procedure but readily admits that a high fiber alternative remedy to constipation is much healthier than its chemical counterpart, the laxative. Dr Oz approaches cleansing from a holistic approach.

Dr Oz Colon Cleanse

The Dr Oz Colon Cleanse regimen actually consists of eating foods that are high in fiber and antioxidants which are known to cleanse and protect the colon from polyps as they are susceptible to becoming cancerous. There has been much discussion in the past several years about colon cancer and it is often referred to as the “Silent Killer” because in most cases a person will not feel pain until the disease has progressed to a very serious point. Dr Oz further recommends at least thirty minutes of vigorous exercise daily (or as often as possible) to keep the heart pumping strongly which encourages blood flow through major organs, including the colon. Greater blood flow assists in cleansing toxins from the intestines to be filtered in the liver.

Foods Suggested for the Dr Oz Colon Cleanse

Dr Oz recommends at least 9 servings combined total of fresh fruits and vegetables, among which are blueberries because they contain a natural chemical that protects the colon. It is imperative to try to eliminate saturated fats and red meats from your diet as they are not only difficult to digest but they are toxic to the system. He has a list of five superfoods that should be eaten daily for their ability to fight toxins and contaminants in the system. These foods include Sweet Potatoes, Turmeric Tea, Mangosteen, Mustard Greens and Barramundi Fish. The Dr Oz Colon Cleanse recommendation is to add foods that are high in live bacterial cultures, such as yogurt. Friendly flora are essential to digestion which keeps the colon naturally cleansed by breaking down foods for elimination. Drink plenty of water daily to keep stools soft and to stay hydrated while cleansing and exercising.

Like many physicians, Dr Oz approaches cleansing from the perspective of adding healthy foods that are high in fiber and antioxidants while increasing intake of water along with daily vigorous exercise. He will admit that there are times when the colon becomes toxic or impacted but he encourages cleansing through dietary means whenever possible. Colonic Irrigation, in his eyes, should be reserved for medical procedures. Although he does not blatantly support cleansing, his alternative diet and lifestyle are cleansing in their very makeup. Each and every one of the foods he recommends is a colon cleansing nutrient and should be viewed in this light.
