Homemade Colon Cleanse
While there are many commercial products available for colon cleansing, nothing works as safely and as well as homemade colon cleanse remedies. These remedies are natural and produce the same results as chemical-laden colon cleansers.
Bentonite Clay and Psyllium Husk
The most well-known remedy for homemade colon cleansing is Bentonite Clay. This clay contains very strong properties of binding and hence it bulks up waste and eliminates toxic substances easily through the body. A tea made with Psyllium husk and warm water can get rid of waste from the colon in just a few weeks. However, during any colon cleanse period, the digestive system should not be strained in any way. Hence, steamed or boiled vegetables and fresh fruit juices are the best alternative along with plenty of fresh water.
Fruit Juices
The use of fresh fruit juice is probably the best method for a homemade colon cleanse. Fresh vegetable and fruit juices have alkalizing salts as well as enzymes to assist with colon cleansing. The water levels in the vegetables and fruits help remove deep-seated dirt and waste matter from the colon. In conjunction with the intake of fresh juices, enemas using warm water can be performed for added effect.
Supplements
During any colon cleansing ritual, it is crucial to have supplements on a regular basis to keep up the body’s nutritional requirements. These supplements include probiotics, which will comprise of yeast or bacteria to retain the healthy flora within the intestines. Raw egg or yeast flakes are also excellent as supplements for nutrition and they also double up as multivitamins. Oil supplements such as coconut or cod liver oils work well in supplying the body with essential lubrication and fats. During the homemade colon cleanse process, it is important to have vitamin C supplements and hence intake of juices of fresh citrus fruits is crucial.
Proper Proportions
Herbal solutions and herbs can work very well in cleansing the colon thoroughly. However, if the exact proportions and measurements are not adhered to, they can end up not producing the desired results. It is best to use herbs as fresh as possible. If using store bought herbs, it is important to be careful about the dosage. Several ayurvedic herbs such as Triphala are known to be extremely beneficial in colon cleansing. However, if the intake is not proper or dosage is exceeded, there could be repercussions. Therefore, store bought herbal supplements are a better idea because every capsule is measured to an exact proportion and dosage is clearly mentioned on the instructions over the label.
High fiber diets coupled with a regular intake of herbs and spices such as ginger, aloe vera, cinnamon etc., work very well to alleviate digestive issues. These herbs can be had either in tea form or powdered. Common examples of herbs used in a homemade colon cleanse include ginger, garlic, psyllium, fennel, flax seeds, barberry etc. While psyllium and aloe vera function as laxatives, the flax seeds trigger bowel movements. Fasting on juices can also work well in eliminating years of accumulated waste from the colon walls.
