Mineral Oil Colon Cleanse
So many times there seems to be real confusion over what exactly a colon cleansing product really is. A good number of people take a laxative when they are irregular and erroneously believe they have just undergone a colon cleansing of some form or other. In fact, the only thing that they have accomplished is a bowel movement. There is a lot of information on the web regarding a mineral oil colon cleanse when this is literally impossible on several levels. Not only is mineral oil ineffective to affect a true cleansing, but it also hinders cleansing in that it coats the lining of the intestines.
The Objective of Cleansing
In order to get a better understanding of the main difference between a true colon cleanse and a so-called mineral oil colon cleanse, the first thing that needs to be discussed is what cleansing is all about. Cleansing the colon is meant to flush impacted undigested foods and fecal matter through the digestive tract but it is also a means of eliminating toxins and pathogens from the body. A good colon cleansing product will necessarily contain natural antioxidants, antifungals, antiparasitics and even natural antibiotics. There are a great many herbal ingredients that work quite well to rid the body of toxins and pathogens such as garlic, cayenne pepper, black walnut, aloe, rosemary, and sage to name just a few. A mineral oil colon cleanse is simply a laxative and that’s all there is to it. Mineral oil does not have the ability to counteract microorganisms.
How a Mineral Oil Colon Cleanse Hinders the Process
As it has been noted, a colon cleansing procedure is meant to clear matter from the walls of the intestines to restore digestion and metabolism of foods being consumed. Not only does this prevent a number of colorectal and cardiovascular diseases but it promotes increased energy, improved immunity and even weight loss because foods will be metabolized at a much greater rate. Using a mineral oil colon cleanse coats the intestines to the point that digestion is hindered even further. Many naturopaths believe that while mineral oil is able to promote a bowel movement, it actually compounds the problem by coating the surface with yet another substance. If the intestines weren’t impacted before they probably are now!
It can’t be said enough that a laxative is not a colon cleansing agent. A laxative promotes a bowel movement either by forcing matter out of the system or by softening the stool so it glides out easily. A true colon cleansing product will eradicate that built up matter in the intestines but it will also improve digestion in the future. A laxative does not restore any vital biological processes, whereas a good natural colon cleansing product restores several biological functions. A laxative does not help to prevent disease or illness but a colon cleansing supplement rids the body of disease causing microorganisms. Don’t be fooled by the language. A mineral oil colon cleanse is really only a laxative. A rose by any other name is still a rose.
