Colon Cleansing and Diabetes
|
|
A large number of people all across the world suffer from diabetes. It occurs when the glucose levels in the body start to get either abnormally high or low. Whichever the case, there has always been a discussion on whether colon cleansing can help to reduce the extent of diabetes in a patient if not cure him or her completely. Before discussing this, there are some facts about diabetes that one should know about.
Facts about Diabetes
Diabetes is not a direct result of consuming large amounts of sugary and carbohydrate rich food. It may also be caused due to a distended colon. During the digestion process, a large amount of glucose is librated. The intestines send a signal to the pancreas which in turn responds by releasing adequate quantities of insulin. Similarly, if an ample amount of glucose is not released, it secretes glucagon. A distended colon may cause even small quantities of food materials to trigger the process causing instability.
Diabetes and Colon
It would now be easy to understand why a constipated colon can influence diabetes. People who eat a lot or who are victims of obesity put added pressure on their intestines which over time results in a decreased efficiency. Wastes start to accumulate on the intestinal walls making the passage of materials difficult which increases the chances of diabetes. This is the reason why a lot of obese people are known to suffer from this condition.
What is Colon Cleansing?
Colon Cleansing is a process undertaken to flush the wastes accumulated on the intestinal walls to increase the efficiency of the digestive system. Doing so clears the complete track and allows absorption of all nutrients present in the food particles. The wastes can easily travel down to the rectum from where they are excreted in the form of fecal matter.
How should it be Initiated?
Colon cleansing can be initiated under the watchful eyes of a physician even though there are number of home remedies available. Keep in mind that the market is full of products that promise results but do not deliver. The doctor would be able to shed some valuable advice in this regard and help choose a right alternative. Fortunately, the processes are neither complex nor unbearable. After completing the colon cleansing process, appropriate precautions would have to be taken to ensure that the wastes do not get accumulated again.
Precautions
Patients of colon cleansing need to regulate their diet. Not only should the food be rich in nutrition and fiber but they should also be eaten at regular intervals. The reason for this is because irregular and inappropriate eating practices may again result in a reoccurrence of the problem.
Post Colon Cleansing
After colon cleansing the patient can expect blood sugar levels to become more normal; however, there is only a certain limit to which this process can help patients suffering from diabetes and repeated colon cleansing may not be of any help.
