Water Colon Cleansing

Water colon cleansing can be thought of in two very different ways. First there is a cleansing method that inserts water into the intestines through the rectum to flush matter out and secondly, there is a method of drinking water to flush the intestines. Usually, however, water colon cleansing refers to the former. This can take the form of colon hydrotherapy (colonic irrigation) or cleansing enemas.

Colonic Irrigation

This is a procedure for water colon cleansing that requires a trained professional. It involves forcing water into the intestines through the rectum. Many times this requires as much as 30 gallons of water per cleansing and the entire procedure can take as long as an hour. While there may be individuals who claim to be practitioners, it is imperative to authenticate credentials. Colon hydrotherapy can have negative repercussions in that there is a potential to pierce intestinal linings if too much water pressure is utilized. Based on the fact that there can be serious consequences, colonic irrigation as a means of water colon cleansing should only be performed by trained medical professionals. Doctors may prescribe this procedure prior to surgery, but as a means of normal or periodic cleansing it is not generally advisable.

Enemas for Water Colon Cleansing

There are two key differences between cleansing with an enema and having a professional hydrotherapy cleanse. The first, and most important, is that individuals can give themselves enemas but professionals are required for colonic irrigation. The second difference is that enemas can only cleanse the lower intestine while colon hydrotherapy forces water through both the large and small intestines. Enemas are generally used for irregularity as opposed to authentic water cleansing because of the fact that a significant portion of the digestive tract is not cleansed in the process.

Oral Water Colon Cleansing

Drinking several glasses of water each day is promoted as being able to flush toxins from the system, but this is not what is meant by an oral water colon cleansing method. Oral methods generally involve adding sea salt or Epsom salt to the water as a catalyst for cleansing. It is often used in conjunction with other forms of cleansing such as with the use of high fiber supplements. Water alone will not flush impacted waste and fecal matter through the intestines for elimination. It may help to some degree, but it is not among the most effective colon cleansing methods.

While there are various methods of water colon cleansing, most advocates of cleansing opt for safer and more efficient methods. Enemas can only provide a certain degree of cleansing to the lower intestine while colonic irrigation is costly and must be performed by a qualified professional. There are obvious dangers inherent in both enemas and hydrotherapy if too much pressure is applied. Oral water colon cleansing has little effect if other agents aren’t used in conjunction with the water. Most individuals choose other means of natural colon cleansing that are more efficient, less dangerous and beneficial in other ways as well. A good colon cleansing product will also include nutrients for repairing digestion once cleansing has been accomplished. Prior to colon cleansing in any form, it is recommended to seek medical advice from a qualified doctor.
