Colon Detox is the process of cleansing your body of dangerous waste and toxins. There are several reasons that a person may choose to do this but weight loss and the improvement of general health are a couple of the biggest ones. There are a variety of methods that can be used for the purpose of cleansing the colon. Some of these include changes in diet, enemas and the use of various natural supplements created with this express purpose in mind.
Diet Changes
Changing your diet is one of the most natural methods of colon detox available. Some foods that are known to be beneficial in this area include oats, rice, beans, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits. In addition to increasing the consumption of these and other fiber rich foods it is also recommended that you steer clear of other foods. Some of the foods that should be avoided or at least reduced include red meat, dairy products, sugar, flour, excessive fat, processed foods, artificial sweeteners and additives. One suggestion for cutting back on meat intake is to switch to other more healthy choices such as chicken and fish a couple of times a week.
Changes in Your Body
During the initial stages of colon detox you may experience certain symptoms that make you feel worse rather than better. Don’t be alarmed, this is completely normal and will pass rather quickly. It is just your body’s way of getting used to the changes that you are experiencing from eating healthier foods and getting rid of the waste buildup that has accumulated. Some common effects that may be noticed include headaches, fever, colds, rashes, unusual bowel movements and fatigue. In some cases other minor issues may be noticed however these generally pass within a short period of time.
Changes in Your Health
There are many health issues that often showed a noticeable improvement following colon detox; some of which include blood pressure and cholesterol levels, immune system abilities, liver damage, depression, digestive system function and eyesight. One reason that there is such an improvement in these areas is that your body is getting rid of all the bad stuff that often makes these health conditions worse. When these toxins are cleansed from the body it results in the overall health of a person being much improved. This alone is a good reason to detoxify the body periodically.
Changes in Weight
Colon detox is not recommended solely for weight loss on a regular basis however it is suggested that you cleanse your body prior to weight loss attempts to improve your chances of success. Often simply cleansing your body of the toxins and waste that have built up over an extended period of time can result in a loss of weight of anywhere from 10 to 20 pounds. This amount depends largely on the person and how much waste their bodies have accumulated. For individuals cleansing their colons for the first time this amount may be even more whereas it may be less for someone who does this on a regular basis.
